Small cars awarded new Euro NCAP ratings

Road safety organisation Euro NCAP has announced the award of safety ratings to six new models - five of which are smaller vehicles.

Car insurance premiums are affected by the award of these ratings, therefore, individuals owning a Audi Q5, Honda Jazz, Hyundai i20, Kia Soul or Peugeot 3008 will be pleased to hear that each of these models was awarded the company's highest rating of five stars.

However, anyone owning a Suzuki Alto might be happy to learn that the car was awarded three stars.

Michiel van Ratingen, secretary general of Euro NCAP, stated: "The smaller cars we tested whose results are released today show that size should not stand in the way of all-round safety."

Meanwhile, Graeme Trudgill, technical and corporate affairs executive at the British Insurance Brokers' Association, recently urged motorists not to cut back on their car insurance, as doing so could leave them significantly out of pocket should they be unfortunate enough to have an accident.
