Damage sustained during burglary may instigate insurance claim

Damaged sustained to a property's front door during a burglary may prompt the householders to lodge an insurance claim to cover the cost of repairs.

A pane of glass in the door was smashed during the incident which took place at some time between 08:30 BST and 17:30 BST on Tuesday August 17th, the Worthing Herald reports.

The dwelling on Grand Avenue was targeted and the perpetrators searched the rooms inside before making off with a pair of games consoles, an iPod and a laptop.

What's more, the thieves had packed a number of computer game titles into a carrier bag, but neglected to leave the property with them, the publication continues.

It has been widely reported that many break-ins occur on an opportunistic basis, so property owners should be vigilant about locking their doors and windows and remove any tools from the garden which may aid a criminal's plight to enter the house.
