Dogs could be 'a family's best friend'

Pet insurance policyholders have been told of the reasons why owning a dog could be a good choice for all the family.

According to a spokeswoman at the Kennel Club, having a canine in the household can "help people in numerous ways".

These benefits can be both mental and physical, the expert suggested, as well as bringing the family emotionally closer.

She explained: "At the Kennel Club we have heard numerous stories about how a dog has helped bring a family together by providing a common interest and a reason to get out and walking as a family with the dog."

Furthermore, the spokeswoman pointed out that a pooch is great in bringing the spirits of owners up, as well as reduce the stress that people are undergoing.

Meanwhile, those with pet insurance were also told that parents of kids with lifelong developmental disability autism could help bring down their stress levels by owning a dog, according to a recent study by the University of Lincoln.
