Green Deal launch will trigger "ballistic" heat pump demand
The upcoming launch of the Green Deal will trigger a "ballistic" demand for heat pumps, it has been claimed.
More homeowners across the country are now being conscious of their effect on the environment, with many residents looking for energy-efficient systems to promote sustainability.
Furthermore, such technology can help to lower energy bills for residents, who will be especially looking to save money as Britain faces its current recession.
The demand for such appliances is so high that a representative from Husky Heat Pumps believes that people may not be prepared for it.
"When they introduce it I think it is going to go ballistic and I don't think any of us are actually ready for it. It is just going to go mad. We are not quite sure how we are going to keep up with demand," the spokesperson noted.
Even though it is expected that the technology will see significant demand, the expert is unsure whether there will be a "massive spike" followed by a more settled period, or if more resources will be required to keep up with adoption levels.
Energy-efficient devices could be particularly popular thanks to the financial savings that they offer, and their associated energy savings could be appealing because of the rises in energy bills expected in coming years.
This was highlighted in a study by uSwitch.com, which estimated that the average household energy bill will rise over the £1,500 a year mark by 2015.
Also, the research forecast that six in ten homes (59 per cent) will be lacking sufficient heating by the same year.
Due to these financial challenges, appliances such as heat pumps could be adopted by homeowners in a bid to lower energy bills.
The Husky Heat Pumps representative noted: "People are actually investing their money into this technology because they can see the long-term benefits, whereas if they keep their money in their bank accounts then it is not actually making them anything."
