Home insurance news: Burglar jailed after fingerprints found on ketchup bottle
Home insurance customers in Normanton might be pleased to hear the person who broke into their property has been jailed.
Jerome Jones, aged 19, was sentenced to two-and-a-half years' imprisonment thanks to forensic techniques, which discovered his fingerprints on a ketchup bottle, the Yorkshire Evening Post reports.
The condiment was used to write I will be back on one of the walls while the perpetrator also vandalised the bedrooms and central heating system.
Jones pleaded guilty to a breach of a community order and burglary, the newspaper continues.
The judge at Leeds Crown Court said: "You have committed what to me and I am sure to the complainant, is a very nasty burglary."
This offence might come as a reminder of the importance of having an up-to-date home insurance policy.
UIA has announced it is currently offering 12 months for the price of 10 in a deal which also includes free home emergency cover.
