Flood event 'to give tips on avoiding home insurance claims'
A flood risk event could help visitors avoid home insurance claims.
The Environment Agency will be visiting the Baby and Toddler Show to identify potential flooding risks for homes in the area - and, in the process, could reduce the chance of having to make a home insurance claim.
The show will take place at the MK Dons Stadium in Milton Keynes on Sunday March 7th.
Specialists will use visitors' postcodes to determine whether they are at risk of flooding and will provide information leaflets and family flood plans for those homes that they identify could flood.
Rob Bakewell, a flood incident management team leader, noted that people with children should have plans in place to cope with floods if they live in an at-risk area.
Mr Bakewell said: "It only takes a few minutes to check if you are at risk from flooding and to start thinking about what you need to do if the worst were to happen."
A similar event was held by the agency at Northampton's Guildhall in February.
