Homeowners urged to work together to reduce insurance claims
Police officers in Salford have urged property owners to work together in a bid to reduce the number of insurance claims in their area.
The Neighbourhood Policing Team has contacted residents to encourage them to join a Home Watch scheme as part of Neighbourhood and Home Watch week from June 14th until the 20th.
Police Community Support Officer Angela Haydock said: "We are actively looking for volunteers to sign up and help us beat crime and anti-social behaviour in their area."
She added that the initiative can help boost a community spirit and improve home security by encouraging people to report suspicious behaviour in their area to the local force.
Homeowners can have their valuable items marked as part of the event which could help them be returned if they are ever lost or stolen.
Meanwhile, Greater Manchester Police have issued a warning about how important it is to stay vigilant about crime during the summer months.
Opportunist incidents can occur due to windows and doors being left open which could have a knock-on effect on home insurance premiums, crime reduction advisor Denis Brogan added.
