House insurance reminder after Hull burglary
Residents of a property in Hull have been given a stark reminder of the importance of an up-to-date house insurance policy after they fell victim to burglary.
The family believe their home was broken into as a result of criminals gaining information from Facebook, the Yorkshire Post reports.
The Leightons were burgled as they visited their newborn son in hospital some 70 miles away.
"People need to be really careful about what information they put on Facebook, we didn't even think about what we were saying but someone took advantage of it," explained grandmother Julie Leighton.
An Xbox console and accompanying games, and two large televisions were among the items snatched from the dwelling across two incidents on Hartland Drive in Bransholme.
Consumers could do well to check their privacy settings on any social networking site they use and only allow access to people they actually know in real life.
