Pet insurance could be vital during festive season
Animal lovers hoping to avoid having to make a pet insurance claim this Christmas may wish to take notice of advice given by the Seattle Times.
The newspaper suggests that pet owners follow its guidelines - such as taking to the floor to view the world from a cat, hamster or rabbit's view - if they want to keep their furry friends safe over the festive season.
Other tips include keeping pets away from Christmas trees, which can contain dangerous chemicals and prickly branches, as well as moving decorations out of reach.
"Candles are another common house hazard. The flickering glow can easily attract any pet, but especially cats. Place candles in appropriate holders out of reach", suggests the publication.
A particularly relevant piece of advice at this time is not to give pets food designed for humans simply because there is an abundance of it available, as it can cause illnesses.
Earlier this month, the RSPCA said that bringing new pets into the home over Christmas could be traumatic for them - which may be seen as another possible reason for investing in quality pet insurance.
