Pet insurance policyholders may be relieved to hear missing cats have been returned
A litter of five kittens that were stolen from a property in Jaywick have been returned, in news which may please pet insurance owners.
The cats were just one day old at the time of the incident and one did not survive after its ordeal.
Police officers requested information from neighbours after the incident which took place between 22:00 BST on Thursday July 22nd and 02:00 BST the next morning.
The animals were posted through the letterbox of the property over the weekend of July 23rd as a result of the appeal.
Persian, Siamese, Burmese and Maine Coon cats are among the felines most likely to be stolen, according to the BBC's Crimewatch.
It could be a good idea to get pets microchipped so that they can be reunited with their owners in the event of them being stolen or lost and subsequently recovered.
When walking a dog, using different routes each day is advised as is keeping them in sight at all times, the BBC continues.
