UK animal owners advised on pet insurance

Individuals who own animals have been advised of the need to take out comprehensive pet insurance.

Rediff Business has reported that Britons who do not wish to be stung by expensive veterinary bills should their animal fall ill or suffer an injury might want to take out pet insurance to cover these costs in an emergency.

The website noted that pet insurance providers will often specialise in cover for cats and dogs. However, people who have other types of animals can often find pet insurance deals via specialist providers.

Meanwhile, Orla Aungier, of the Dublin Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, recently told the Irish Times that individuals should be aware of the costs that can be incurred when taking an animal to the vets.

She noted that expenses can quickly spiral, especially if surgery is required, or if a chronic condition means that an animal needs lengthy and frequent treatments.

Did you know that UIA offers competitive rates on home insurance? Great deals also available on car insurance, travel insurance and pet insurance too. Up to 15% discount when you apply online.
