Police in Greater Manchester have issued a warning for drivers to remain vigilant about securing their vehicles in a bid to reduce the number of car insurance claims in the area.Neighbourhood Sergeant John Connor said: "Thieves are always on the lookout for an easy target and by leaving valuables and personal possessions on show, we are making their jobs much simpler."He added that residents of the area can help reduce incidents of car crime by removing all items from view and checking that doors are locked and windows are wound up fully.Sgt Connor's comments came in response to figures which showed a 22 per cent increase in the number of vehicle thefts between July and August 2010 when compared with the same period last year.Meanwhile, people who own Range Rover 4x4s could be inspired to become even more careful about locking up their cars as a number of these models have been targeted in the Essex area.Posted by Samuel TudorDid you know that UIA offers competitive rates on home insurance?
