Sensible drivers to be rewarded for not drinking

A new campaign launched by the government will promote sensible behaviour on the road this winter by advertising on TV, radio, and in 8,000 pubs and clubs around the country.

Car insurance customers aged between 17 and 29 are being targeted by the government's THINK! campaign, launched earlier in the week by road safety minister Mike Penning.

Under the scheme, designated drivers will also be rewarded with free soft drinks in participating venues, which they can find through smartphones and online.

Recently, drink driving campaigns have been the order of the day, as many organisations look to cut out the number of accidents attributed to alcohol during the festive period. Last week, Essex Police and Brake announced a new scheme.

Mr Penning said: "Our THINK! campaign makes it clear that drivers who get behind the wheel over the limit risk losing their licence as well as facing a fine and even a prison sentence."
