Britons 'spend more to save more'
UK holidaymakers are spending more money travelling to far-flung destinations to take advantage of exchange rates which allows them to make a saving overall.
Jonathan Cudworth, head of product marketing at Expedia.co.uk, said that there has been a growth in the number of people looking to travel outside of the eurozone and to less traditional destinations, such as Dubai, Australia, Hong Kong and Malaysia.
He commented: "People are spending a lot more money on their travel in terms of going to places a lot further away, but tending to go to places where their money goes further."
When considering the cost of an overseas break, it is important for individuals to remember to factor in the cost of purchasing travel insurance into their calculations.
According to figures compiled by Expedia, 60 per cent of Brits will take their full holiday entitlement this year despite mounting work pressures.
