Brits 'saving billions' on holidays
Savvy British tourists saving money on package holidays may have more money for important extras such as travel insurance, if the recent comments of one expert are anything to go by.
Santander reported Brits have managed to knock prices down by a combined £4.92 billion by cutting out the middle-man and not being afraid to haggle in order to get the best deal on foreign travel.
The average UK holidaymaker secured a reduction of £423, with over six million travellers successfully bartering for an upgrade.
Jonathan Cudworth, director of product management for Expedia, said: "With dynamic packaging technology, customers booking a flight and hotel or car hire at the same time can often see real savings of up to 40 per cent."
He also added that more UK tourists were booking long-haul flights in order to exploit savings and holiday in better quality accommodation.
Another way to save money on your trips abroad this year is to book your travel insurance online as this can often mean lower rates.
