Companies 'continuing to travel'

UK firms are beginning to seriously embrace travel again following a difficult few months, it has been claimed.

Gill Upton, editor of Business Travel Magazine, said that the need to meet with clients face-to-face has spurred on businesses to maintain their travel arrangements during the economic downturn, but this area has picked up considerably in the last quarter.

She commented: "Businesses have to travel - there is only so much they can do by phone and video conference and the rest is done face to face."

Individuals who take frequent trips overseas might be interested in taking out annual travel insurance, as this can help to reduce the costs of taking out multiple policies.

According to figures compiled by Visa Europe, the number of transactions on business travel cards has now returned to pre-October levels.

Furthermore, there has been a ten per cent year-on-year increase in the number of transactions made on these cards, despite the prevailing economic difficulties being felt by many firms at present.
