Travel insurance advice 'is a must'

Anyone thinking of taking a vacation this year should remember to take advice on their travel insurance prior to their departure, it has been argued.

Malcolm Tarling, spokesperson for the Association of British Insurers, said that it is important for individuals to seek advice on travel insurance in order that they get the best deal that is right for them.

He commented: "It is important that people - when they are booking travel arrangements - not only take out [travel insurance] but are given clear transparent advice about the options that are available."

Mr Tarling added that travel insurance should be viewed as a necessity, even for short trips, and noted that the value represented by the cover is outstanding.

Research carried out by InsureandGo recently revealed that the overall cost of holiday calamities for uninsured Brits on holiday last year totalled £90 million.

The most common mishaps were lost luggage or money, travel delays and flight cancellations.

Did you know that UIA offers competitive rates on home insurance? Great deals also available on car insurance, travel insurance and pet insurance too. Up to 15% discount when you apply online.
