Travel insurance cover 'required' for trips to Cuba
Travel insurance customers heading for Cuba will need to note new regulations are to be introduced requiring all visitors to have up to date medical cover in order to enter the country.
The law was passed by the executive committee of the council of ministers and comes into force on May 1st 2010.
Steve Diederich, managing director at Captivating Cuba, said: "As Cuba's healthcare system is excellent and world-renowned, it's not surprising that the government wants to cover its costs in this area."
He also noted details had yet to be released on the extent of the proposals and the costs involved ? something which could affect the numbers of tourists heading to the Caribbean island.
In addition, Cubans living abroad will be required to have suitable medical cover if they wish to re-enter the country, as will any foreigners living in Cuba on a temporary basis.
Spending time searching for the best travel insurance policy with the most comprehensive level of medical coverage could help tourists meet the guidelines and save money at the same time.
