Vaccine warning for pet insurance policyholders
Pet insurance policyholders have been reminded about the importance of keeping their dog's vaccines up to date.
In particular, professionals in Northamptonshire want animal lovers to get their pooches immunised against canine parvovirus as there has been an increase in the number of cases, the BBC reports.
Nicky Daly, veterinary nurse at the Animal Medical Centre at Kingsley Park, said: "It only takes a couple of days to incubate from one dog to another before the virus spreads."
She suggested straitened financial times have played a part in fewer pet owners taking their creature to the vet - a problem which sees previously receding diseases make a comeback.
Vets claim a recent outbreak of the ailment is the worst seen in decades, the broadcaster continues.
Meanwhile, an ice cream van for dogs has popped up in London serving pooches cold treats like gammon and chicken with a crunchy biscuit, according to the Metro.
