  • Is it safe to pay for my policy on the Internet?

Yes. Our site uses 256-bit encryption that disguises and protects your personal and payment details and prevents them from being accessed by or disclosed to third parties.

  • I have never insured my pet, why do I need to?

Rising veterinary costs can make a trip to the vet a costly one. According to our partner Thornside Pet Healthcare Insurance, the average vet bill is over £350* and more serious treatment can be considerably more. Insuring your pet could therefore be a sensible move with the added peace of mind of knowing you could be covered for any damage or injury your pet might cause another person.

*Average vet bill is based on claims received by Thornside in 2010.

  • What should I do if I need to claim on my pet insurance

UIA make it a very simple process. Simply call us on 0844 335 1583* and we will take the details over the telephone. We send you a pre-printed claim form for your signature and if you prefer we settle the bill directly with the vet.

*Calls from a BT landline during off-peak hours are around 7p per minute. Calls at other times and from different providers, including mobiles, may vary. Calls may be recorded for training and monitoring purposes.

  • Is there any advantage to paying my pet insurance premiums by Direct Debit?

Yes, not only does it break your premium down into very affordable payments, but there is no interest to pay whatsoever, the annual premium is simply divided equally over 12 months (0% APR). When your policy falls due for renewal you will receive your renewal documents through the post and can relax in the knowledge that your cover will continue unless you advise us otherwise.

  • What is cover for ongoing conditions?

Many pet insurers limit cover for ongoing conditions for only 12 months, at UIA we recognise that some illnesses go on beyond that. Our policy will continue to cover your pet, up to the policy limit, for ongoing claims subject to cover remaining in force and payment of premium. Pre-existing conditions are excluded from cover.
