Car insurance renewal 'costing less for comparers'
Britons who compare the cost of car insurance renewal quotes are able to make significant savings, it has been argued.
Steve Foulsham, technical services manager at the British Insurance Brokers' Association (BIBA), said that people are becoming increasingly aware of the benefits of comparing quotes and the fact that often the automatic renewal they receive from their present insurer will not be the most competitive option available to them.
"Clarity is key and consumers really need to have the right advice and need to make sure they are getting a policy that fits their own requirements," he said.
Research carried out by Mintel recently showed that more than three-quarters (77 per cent) of Brits are shopping around when renewing their car insurance.
In addition, the research revealed that 16 per cent of motorists get quotes from more than six different companies before making their final choice on the deal that is right for them.
