Employees urged to take a break

Workers need to ensure they take regular breaks to stay on top form, it has been argued.

Mike Petrook, a spokesperson for the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), said that it is important for people to take regular holidays in order to recharge their batteries and return to work both fresh and positive.

He commented: "Holidays are vital because what they do is they refresh your energy and they enable you to refocus."

Britons who wish to head on an overseas break while taking leave might want to take out travel insurance in order to provide cover for both health treatments and the loss of belongings while abroad.

According to figures compiled by CMI, 20 per cent of respondents to a survey on why individuals forgo their holiday entitlement claimed that they find it difficult to "let go" of work, with many worrying about deadlines or clients while they area away.

In addition, 20 percent blamed an excessive workload for the reason why they had little time off.
