Insurance 'still important for Brits'

Britons have been urged to keep up their insurance cover during the recession, as they never know when they will need it.

Steve Foulsham, technical services manager at the British Insurance Brokers' Association (BIBA), said that it is important for people to be aware of the need to maintain financial protection, especially during periods of economic instability.

He commented: "Clearly when money is a bit tight - and if you subsequently have a problem when you come to claim - then it can be even more of a problem at that time than at the time when you purchased the insurance."

Figures compiled by BIBA recently revealed that 23 per cent of brokers in the UK have witnessed a fall in their personal lines business, with 96 per cent of these individuals stating that the products which have been worst affected during the downturn have been car and home insurance.

Did you know that UIA offers competitive rates on home insurance? Great deals also available on car insurance, travel insurance and pet insurance too. Up to 15% discount when you apply online.
